OSA 5405 Series Integrated GNSS PTP Grandmaster Clocks

Mini in-/outdoor GNSS antenna with SB/MB GNSS receiver, PTP grandmaster

By integrating GNSS receivers, PTP/NTP stacks, and LEO-based Satellite Time and Location (STL) technology, the OSA 5405 Series offers a versatile solution for precise network coordination in even the most challenging environments. These smart GNSS antennas can be deployed in deep urban canyons, where GNSS reception is unreliable or unavailable, and where tight synchronisation is required. This eliminates the need for conventional GNSS installations using expensive RF cable feeds, as the OSA 5405 instead uses cost-effective Ethernet cabling and offers both electrical and optical interfaces.

With five optimised variants, the OSA 5405 Series addresses specific use cases:

  • OSA 5405-I: Indoor deployment.
  • OSA 5405-P: Power utilities.
  • OSA 5405-O: Outdoor deployment.
  • OSA 5405-MB: Multi-band receiver technology for enhanced precision and resilience.
  • OSA 5405-S: Areas where GNSS reception is a challenge or unavailable.

The OSA 5405-S is particularly well-suited for applications ranging from 5G networks to data centres and power grids, providing superior signal strength with STL signals up to 1,000 times stronger than conventional GNSS. Its rugged design and high resilience make it a reliable choice for critical infrastructures, ensuring accurate synchronisation even in environments where traditional GNSS signals are weak, disrupted, or impacted by jamming and spoofing.

In June 2023, ADVA Optical Networking SE has officially changed its name to Adtran Networks SE. The products of ADVA will continue to be available from CoverTel as usual. Logo change of products from ADVA to Adtran will be done progressively.

Description

OSA 5405 Series

In/Outdoor PTP Grandmaster & GNSS Receiver

The OSA 5405 Series is designed to effectively deliver onsite aliment via PTP and NTP directly from the smart antenna in any environment and eliminate all restrictions.

Key Features of the OSA 5405-S:

  • Combines LEO time services with multi-constellation GNSS for enhanced accuracy and resilience.
  • Ideal for locations where GNSS jamming, spoofing, or poor reception poses a challenge.
  • Compact, rugged design for both indoor and outdoor deployment.
  • Reduces capital expenditure and operating costs by eliminating the need for legacy GNSS RF antennas and coax cables.
  • Ensures accurate coordination for mission-critical applications like 5G and power grids.

The OSA 5405 comes with four variants for four specific use cases:

  • indoor deployment (OSA 5405-I),
  • power utilities (OSA 5405-P),
  • outdoor deployment (OSA 5405-O),
  • and where multi-band receiver technology is required for enhanced precision and resilience (OSA 5405-MB).

With its rugged housing for outdoor deployment, the OSA 5405-O/MB delivers unparalleled freedom to locate synchronisation precisely where it’s most effective. The multi-band variant, the OSA 5405-MB, leverages multiple frequency bands for improved resiliency and highest accuracy. The small footprint of the OSA 5405-I and its integrated GNSS receiver and antenna mean it can also be installed on indoor windows to avoid multipath signal interference. For automated substations and power utilities , the OSA 5405-P combines legacy timing interfaces such as IRIG-B , NTP and PPS with satellite- and network-delivered synchronisation for highest availability and excellent accuracy.
