Enclosure Door Contact Alarm


The Enclosure Door Contact Alarm is a security device that alerts network managers when a cabinet door has been opened. It provides power to a switch that senses if the door is open or closed, and that information is sent to a managed Ethernet switch. This switch will then alert network managers if the door’s status changes. The alarm requires power, which can be provided by the same power supply that powers the managed Ethernet switch such as the Managed Hardened PoE+ Switch offered by Transition Networks.

In August 2021, Transition Networks was acquired by Lantronix Inc. The products of Transition Networks will continue to be available from CoverTel as usual. Logo change of products from Transition Networks to Lantronix will be done progressively.

Enclosure Door Contact Alarm

The Enclosure Door Contact Alarm is a device that helps network managers monitor the security of their telecom equipment cabinet. It is designed to be mounted inside the cabinet and will provide power to a switch that detects when the cabinet door is opened. This switch, which can be a cabinet door contact switch or any other device that detects when the door is opened, sends a signal to a managed Ethernet switch, such as one of the Hardened Ethernet Switches offered by Transition Networks. The status of the cabinet door, whether it is open or closed, is then monitored by the Ethernet switch, which alerts network managers in case of any changes.

The EDCA-DIO-01 requires power to function, and it can be powered by the same power supply that provides power to the Hardened Ethernet Switch. The 2-wire DC input port on the 6-pin terminal block provides power to both the EDCA-DIO-01 and the Hardened Ethernet Switch. The 12 VDC Relay port is connected to the sensor or door contact closure switch, while the ALARM out port is connected to the digital input port on the Hardened Ethernet Switch. When the cabinet door is opened, the switch sends a signal to the Ethernet switch, which will then alert network managers. This device helps ensure the security of the telecom equipment in the cabinet, and helps prevent unauthorized access to the equipment.
