Failsafe 10/100/1000Base-T Network Regeneration Tap
The ETAP-3105 from Dualcomm is a GbE copper Network Regeneration Tap for use with a 10/100/1000Base-T link. It supports Failsafe-Bypass by which the two inline ports of ETAP-3105 will fail over automatically to maintain link connectivity when it loses its power. As such, ETAP-3105 can be used for deployment in a critical link path in a network.
When a link goes down on either side, the link on the other side will go down automatically. This feature is usually desirable or required for high availability deployment to reduce the time for activating a redundant link path in a network.
This gigabit copper Network Tap can operate in one of two operation modes: Dual-Tap Mode and Dual-Link Mode, which is manually pre-configured by a DIP switch. Power recycling is required to change the operation mode. When it operates in the Dual-Tap Mode, it functions as two independent copper GbE Network Taps, each of the two monitor ports outputs a copy of aggregated full-duplex traffic of the corresponding copper inline link. When it operates in the Dual-Link Mode, each of the two monitor ports outputs a copy of aggregated full-duplex traffic of the two copper inline links.
